Missing Persons Alert: Becky Hostetler-Hendrix

In this urgent Missing Persons Alert episode, we discuss the case of 43 year old mother of two Becky Hostetler-Hendrix, who was last heard from in New Orleans, LA on the afternoon of January 6,2022. Foul play may be involved, and her case may be connected to that of Julia Dardar, another New Orleans area woman who was allegedly murdered and dismembered by a man named Benjamin Beale. Beale is an associate of the man Becky was dating when she went missing.

Becky’s vehicle, a Blue Toyota Highlander with Texas license plate DJD2581 is also missing and was observed on video surveillance around the time Becky vanished.

Anyone with additional information on Becky Hostetler-Hendrix’s whereabouts is asked to contact NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010

UPDATE: Update 7/26/22

Sadly, Becky was found deceased a little over 2 months after we aired her episode on this podcast. Although her death was ruled by police to be an accidental overdose, some things don’t seem to add up to Becky’s family. For one, Becky was found in the back seat of her vehicle, which was also missing with her. The car supposedly sat in a hospital parking lot for months without hospital security noticing it. Surveillance cameras that may show the car, or it enterting the premises were said to have not been working. Additionally, the driver’s seat was pushed all the way back, and Becky was 5ft2, indicating that she may not be the person that parked the car there.  Police have apparently closed the case despite issues that Becky’s family has with the circumstances. Another troubling issue are emails that Becky sent just before she went missing that seem to indicate she was having issues with a relationship. Copies of the emails will be posted below. Also, what follows is a statement directly from Becky’s mom Karen;

“Becky was found deceased in her car lying behind the front seats on a foam mattress on April 28th. Per NOPD she had been in UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL’s parking lot in front of the oncology dept.  Per NOPD she had been there since Jan 11th as an employee of the hospital had taken a picture of the side of her car. University Hospital has signs posted that this parking area is monitored 24/7 and vehicles will be towed. This undoubtedly is not true as Becky’s car was there almost 4 months. Her seat was pushed all the way back, Becky is about 5’2. Even the Sargent thought this was strange but also not investigated. Her car was never processed by NOPD except to check the steering wheel for fingerprints and they are still waiting on results from that. The men televised as persons of interest had never been interviewed.         I feel Becky’s case was not properly investigated. My son and I was told the only thing taken out of her car was her and her phone and that nothing was found on her phone, which was not true because her phone was still in the car and later denied as having been said. We were also told that if any drugs not prescribed to her were found that it would be considered a homicide which did not happen. I purchased a replacement phone and a new sims card was put in it so NOPD could access her email and FB. I was told this was done and nothing was found. After i got that phone back, I accessed Beckys gmail and found the letters below. When I asked the Sargent about then , he said he saw them during the investigation and was not important as Becky could have called NOPD but did not. In this email , she talks about abuse. He saw this while Becky was missing. Seems pretty important. He said Becky was an adult and could have called. As most people know abused women don’t always call for help because they are afraid or ashamed. I feel the women of New Orleans should not feel safe. There were also (during the investigation) FB messages that I showed NOPD where she was frightened for her life but these people that received them were not questioned.  Its been 2 weeks since her toxicology results came back and i am still waiting for Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office to call me so they can explain the results to me.        As I see it NOPD has done little to investigate. The waterway searches were done by volunteer groups and it was a security guard that actually did his job that found Becky. The men from NOPD, the man she sent the emails to , the man she was living with and University Hospital all failed her. During a meeting this past week with the Sargent and  his supervisor, I was told by the supervisor that they usually go for the easier to solve cases and that the mayor makes the policies and procedures ( I have no recording of this conversation but was told this). The Sargent told me weeks before this meeting as he could go only as far as upper management would let him. He has always been honest about that but I didn’t realize how little he was allowed to do.

       I want to thank Mr Morford for putting my daughters story out there and I want to thank everyone for caring.”
