In December of 1975, 19 year old Lindy Sue Biechler was stabbed to death in her Lancaster, PA apartment after weeks of telling family and friends that she felt like she was being stalked. As the one year anniversary of Lindy’s murder approached, her head stone was vandalized, and a taunting letter from someone claiming to be her killer was mailed to police. UPDATE: 9/5/19 Lancaster County investigators with the help of Parabon Nanolabs in VA, have used the DNA evidence in Lindy’s case to construct a sketch of what Lindy’s murderer may have looked like at various points in his life. While hardly the smoking gun that genetic genealogy is, it’s a start. It may not be long until genetic genealogy can be implemented on Lindy’s case to ID her killer once and for all. UPDATE: In July, 2022, police arrested 68 yr old David Sinopoli for Lindy Sue’s murder. He was identified using genetic genealogy. He is currently moving though the justice system, and Lindy’s family is relieved and thankful that justice may be around the corner after almost 50 years
